marche 59

Small town markets are the best.

It has been a busy long weekend so far, filled with dinners, up-do's, make-up, and the marriage of a dear friend. Today was a nice chance to un-wind, and so I took a drive with my parents to Port Hope, about an hour outside Toronto. I have always loved the vibe of this small, lake-side town and often make the east-bound trip to shop the boutiques and enjoy the food. Today we stumbled across a new addition to Port Hope’s historic downtown strip – marche 59.

This organic market/bakery was a fabulous surprise, and we left with our fair share of treats.

Afterwards we lunched at Jim’s Pizza, where the pizza is big and filling, and the atmosphere is casual and easy-going.

If you’ve never been out, I would highly suggest you give the shops, restaurants and markets of Port Hope and neighboring Cobourg a try. You’ll be glad you did.

The relaxing continues tomorrow. Will be posting updates from the spa. Happy Long Weekend!

  2. You find the best spots! I really think you need to do a post compiling all the little nooks and crannies you know in Durham.
